Giro d’Italia Stage 15 Round Up & Opinion

What a stage we had today, and what a ride from Farnese-Vini’s Matteo Robottini. It looked for all the world like Purito was going to take another win as he caught Robottini in the last kilometre and rode past but Robottini found a Froome-esque second wind to cut inside Purito and take the win after a long day in the saddle.
Unfortunately Sunday is the one day work clashes with the cycling for me, fortunately however The Giro have a rather brilliant iPhone app so i was able to watch the last 30KM whilst on a cheeky break at work, boy am i glad for that App!
Another honorable mention has to go to my man crush Sergio Henao, i know i go on about him alot but he chased down Scarponi in the closing kilometres after the Lampre rider attempted to bridge up to Rodriguez. He then continued his strong ride and finished 4th behind Katusha’s Alberto Losada & 25 seconds back on Rabottini and Rodriguez.
Todays finish also see’s Purito back in the Maglia Rosa after Hesjedal could only manage 12th 39 seconds back and Henao will start Tuesday stage (Rest Day Tomorrow) in the Young Riders White Jersey after Uran could only manage 22nd place 1’46 seconds back on the stage winner & 1’11” down on his Sky teammate Sergio Henao.

The sheer grit and determination on Purito’s face make this photo great, also you can just see how steep the final climb in Assisi was today on stage 10 of the Giro.

What a great win for Purito in the Giro, also what a beautiful finish it was aswel cant quite get over how narrow the streets were. I know i keep mentioning him but i was again impressed with Sergio Henao, he finished 6 seconds back in 12th place with Sky teammate Uran finishing 10th at the same time. Uran now moves up to 10th in GC and hes looking good for a top 10 finish in the Giro.
